The Cancer Society is calling for major changes to cancer services to save lives. It says 2,500 more New Zealanders would have survived cancer if they’d lived across the ditch. The claim is based on cancer survival statistics in a new international report published last month in the Lancet. It shows the chances of surviving cancer in this country are among the best in the world. But Australia does better – specially over colorectal, prostate and lung cancer. The society’s medical director, oncologist Chris Jackson, told health correspondent, Karen Brown, why.
